The Harry Gwala District Municipality, in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind who is supported by the National Lotteries Commission, hosted an "Eyes Blind" campaign on 27th of August 2025. The event took place at DRC Secondary School in UMzimkhulu Municipality.
The purpose of this campaign was to distribute 20 spectacles to school learners and 20 to the local members of UMzimkhulu Local Municipality. The event brought excitement and enthusiasm to the school pupils and community members as their needs were for filled. Chief Whip Cllr Noluthando Mhatu and Mayor Cllr Jabu Msiya of UMzimkhulu Municipality welcomed all attendees to this great initiative hosted by KZN Society for the blind.
The Cllr Mayor Jabu Msiya said “ challenge’s that are faced by our people in the District must be taken into consideration and they must be served”. She thanked all stakeholders for making the event a success and for improving the quality of living for our people.
