SALGA GAMES UPDATE ON HARRY GWALA FM 88.8 WITH HARRY GWALA DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY DEPUTY MAYOR CLLR. NOSISA JOJOZI

Today, 25 November 2025, the Harry Gwala District Municipality’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Nosisa Jojozi, participated in a radio interview on Harry Gwala FM ( 88.8 &101.9) with DJ Thando Chiya. The purpose of the interview was to share updates on the upcoming SALGA Games, an important sporting programme for municipalities across KwaZulu- Natal.

Cllr Jojozi expressed great excitement about the District’s participation, especially because the SALGA Games had been on pause since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have now officially resumed. She highlighted that this long-standing tournament, which first began in 1998, will this year be hosted in the uMgungundlovu District.

The Deputy Mayor proudly confirmed that Harry Gwala District Municipality will be competing in seven sport codes, including Indigenous Games such as mlabalaba and nqathu, as well as chess, dancing, and other categories that allow young people to showcase their talents. She emphasized that the value of the SALGA Games goes beyond competition they create a meaningful space for young people to explore sports of their choice, interact with peers from neighbouring districts, network, and even discover new tourism destinations.

Cllr Jojozi also reassured parents and community members that all players will be fully taken care of throughout the tournament, which will run from 4 December 2025 to 7 December 2025. She noted that it’s been a while since harry gwala participated in these games, making this year’s event a long-awaited Team spirit.

She concluded by highlighting the significance of the SALGA Games for the District: they promote a positive spirit, support health and wellness, strengthen social cohesion, and uplift communities through constructive youth engagement.
