The Harry Gwala District Municipality hosted a successful Public Participation Workshop, today 17 September 2025, which was aimed at strengthening community engagement and fostering transparency in governance. The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including community leaders, local government officials and Mayors, to discuss pressing issues facing the district and to encourage active citizen involvement in municipal decision-making processes.
The event, held at Amble Inn, IXopo, provided a platform for attendees to voice their concerns, share ideas, and engage directly with municipal representatives.
In his opening remarks, the Mayor of Harry Gwala District Municipality, Cllr. Zamo Nxumalo, emphasised the importance of public participation in shaping the future of the district. "A strong democracy relies on the active involvement of its citizens. This workshop is part of our commitment to ensuring that the voices of every resident are heard, and that we work together towards building a more sustainable and prosperous Harry Gwala."said Mayor Nxumalo.
